If so, you have to stop by the Red Shield Radio site! In just 23 minutes, you can listen to a complete Red Shield Radio broadcast and then consider yourself brought up-to-date on the news of The Salvation Army worldwide, nationally, and locally! Every week, after catching us up on the news, they have a new guest speaker and a new topic to cover.
Click here for shows covering Comics That Care, Haiti, the Welcoming Back of Host Kristen Grills, How to Become a Volunteer, and a whole archive of other shows.
And if you’re up early on Sunday mornings, be sure to tune your radio dial to 93.1 WIBC to catch Red Shield Radio on during its airtime. Waking up to the hosts: Jeff Stanger, Mike Rowland, and Kristen Grills is a fantastic way to start a Sunday!

Haiti…

Hello! I’ve received a lot of calls recently regarding the Emergency Diaster Relief efforts taking place in Haiti. For a quick update – check out this article, regarding The Salvation Army’s involvement thus far in Haiti.
As stated – our biggest need is for monetary support. Disasters of this magnitude take a lot of money to clean up, not to mention aftercare for those who lost everything. You can find ways to donate in the article.
Also – we will be sending Emergency Disaster Service Trained Volunteers to Haiti in the next week or so – but in order to do this, you must be a Trained Volunteer. If you are trained, and are interested in the possibility of deploying for 14 days to help in Haiti, have a current passport, have no medical problems or conditions, and are comfortable with incredibly primitive living conditions, let me know. I can’t promise deployment, but I can get your name in to the right hands.
Any material donations may be dropped off at the ARC (Adult Rehabilitation Center) located at 711 E. Washington St.
Thank you – your thoughts and prayers for the Haiti Survivors are invaluable and appreciated. We’ll keep you posted on what’s going on and how you can help The Salvation Army’s efforts.

What A Need…

Thank You to all the volunteers who helped last night with conducting Christmas Assistance interviews. We had 150% more people apply for Assistance last night (the first night of accepting applications) than who applied on the first night last year. We have a big job ahead of us if this trend continues.
Here’s how you can help:
- Volunteer to take Christmas Applications (must be 18+ and go through a brief training session)
- Conduct a Toy Drive at your work or church
- Drop off a toy at and Central Indiana Dunkin’ Doughnuts location
- Bring a toy to the Christmas Gift and Hobby Show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Thursday, November 12th
- Shop online with The Salvation Army and JCPenney’s Largest Online Angel Tree Giving Program
- Volunteer to help with Toy Shop Set-Up (December 15-16) or with Toy Shop Distribution (December 17)
Of course, this list is just an example of what you could do to help. There are countless other ways that you can use your time and/or money to help those less fortunate this Holiday Season. If you need help finding something you can do, please give me a call! I’d be more than happy to find a good fit for you in The Salvation Army.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Coats for Kids – whether you gave your time, your money, or your childrens’ old coats. When the doors opened for Distribution at 8am on Saturday morning, we were faced with the longest line in the 23 year history of the event.
However – our volunteers were dedicated and our coat supply was almost adequate… 4,629 children received coats on Saturday.
4,629.
Amazing. Thank you.
You can check out a video clip from WTHR that recaps the event - complete with Bob Gregory himself by heading to www.salvationarmyindiana.org and clicking on the video!
