Comics That Care: March 8. Join us for a night of entertainment provided by talented comics! Proceeds benefit our Homelessness Bites campaign. Location: IUPUI’s Campus Center – 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm). Tickets are $10 ($8 for students) and can be purchased at the door!
Older Adult Spring Luncheon: May 7; 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Help serve lunch and clear tables for the Older Adult Spring Luncheon Program at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Farm Bureau Building.
National Salvation Army Week: May 10-16. Check back for more information about the programs that will be going on throughout Indiana during this week!
Eat Outside the Box: May 14. Join us at Vetran’s Memorial Park for an afternoon of picnic-style food and fun! Proceeds benefit The Salvation Army’s Homelessness Bites campaign.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway: May – July. Volunteer at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the Guest Services desk. Answer questions from guests, give directions, etc. $7.00 an hour will be donated to The Salvation Army for each volunteer who helps out!
Apple Fest: October 7. The Salvation Army annually hosts Apple Fest on Monument Circle. This special event features numerous desserts including warm apple cobbler and ice cream. Volunteers are needed for baking, serving, and set-up.
Colts Coat Collection: October 10. Receive donated coats from fans at the gates of the RCA Dome before kick-off.
Coats For Kids Set Up: October 25-29. Need individuals and/or groups to sort and hang coats at Indiana State Fairgrounds Expo Hall; this will involve standing & lifting. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Coats For Kids Distribution: October 30. Help parents select coats for their children. The Distribution is open from 8 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Volunteer age limit is 14 or over or accompanied by an adult. Spanish speaking volunteers needed as well. Refreshments provided.
Coats For Kids Tear Down: November 1; 9:30 a.m. – Noon. Assist area agencies with removing leftover coats. Tear down racks and straighten up.
Christmas City Bureau: November – December. Interview clients for Christmas assistance at The Salvation Army Fountain Square Corps.; Barton House; or Eagle Creek Corps. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – Noon; excluding the Thursday and Saturday of Thanksgiving week. Need volunteers who can work several times during this period.
Tree of Lights Kick-off Ceremony: November 18; Time TBA. Come join us at The Salvation Army’s Divisional Headquarters (3100 N. Meridian St.) to kick off the Christmas Season with our annual tree lighting!
Celebrity Bell Ringing Day: November 19; 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Join local media and athletes for Celebrity Bell Ringing Day. Help us hand out coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. Celebrities will take shifts ringing bells and manning kettles on Monument Circle in front of the Emmis Communications Building!
Colts/WISH TV 8 Toy Collection: December 13. Ring bells and collect toys from fans at gates before kick-off.
Drivers & Helpers; November – December. Pick up toys from businesses that are not able to deliver. Times and days can be scheduled individually. Drivers will need to complete The Salvation Army Driver’s Application, if not already approved to drive for The Salvation Army.
Christmas Season Bell Ringers: November – December. Ring a bell for The Salvation Army! Locations are available throughout the state.
Gift of Warmth Packing: December; TBA. Pack gift bags at the EDS Training Facility (4020 Georgetown Rd.) with items for the delivery to shut-ins. Standing and bending. Also, lifting of small items involved.
Older Adult Christmas Luncheon: December 3; 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Help serve lunch and clear tables for the Older Adult Christmas Program at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Farm Bureau Building.
Gift of Warmth Delivery: December 4. Pick-up gifts at our EDS Training Facility (4020 Georgetown Rd.) and deliver to shut-ins. Great activity for families as well as small or large groups!
WIBC Radiothon: December 10 – 12. Answer phones and take bids on auction items at Emmis Broadcasting on Monument Circle. Volunteer must be over 18. Meals and refreshments provided.
City Christmas Toy Shop Set Up: December 14 – 15; 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Unload toys, sort, and organize toys by age group and gender to set up Toy Shop at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Refreshments provided.
City Christmas Toy Shop Distribution: December 16. Escort clients through Toy Shop, stock toys and sort toys at Indiana State Fairgrounds. Toy Shop open from Noon – 7:00 p.m. Volunteer age limit is 16 or over, unless supervised by an adult. Refreshments provided.
Cap Off Your Season: Now Until December 11. Knit, crochet or purchase sock hats; also gloves, scarves and socks. Please drop off donations at 3100 N. Meridian St.by October 5th for Coats for Kids or December 14th for Toy Shop.
