Re-Send, If You Please…

Yesterday, my computer’s link to the world, via the internet, wasn’t exactly working.
Turns out that a fiber optic bundle was cut through in Evansville, effectively stripping our building of internet and phone service for the better part of yesterday. I’m all caught up now on the emails and voicemails that I walked into this morning – but in light of everything that went on, if you sent me something on Monday, June 28th and haven’t heard from me, please try again.
The last thing I want is to miss out on meeting you because of a silly internet problem.

- Be sure to look for the token Red Kettles at Verizon Wireless Music Center this weekend – they’ll be staffed by our amazing volunteers!
If you’ll be finding yourself, this weekend, at either the Styx or the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, on Friday and Sunday respectively, scout out our Verizon Volunteers! They’ll be hard to miss, since you’ll hear them before you’ll see them.
Thank You, Johnson County!!!

I had the pleasure of spending part of my evening with the incredible volunteers who work with The Salvation Army’s Johnson County Corps. Major Kennedy asked me to speak at their Volunteer Appreciation event and I was delighted to do so. In fact, I’m really quite glad I went!
What an amazing group of people. They manage to keep a food pantry stocked and running, even in times of shortages, and have the highest percentage of volunteer bellringers at Christmas time! Of course, they could always use more help.
If you’d like to see what the Johnson County Corps (located in Greenwood) is up to and how you can help, please call Jeanine McGaha at (317) 881-2505.
You’ll be glad you did.
Waiting for the Call…

Let’s just face it. The weather lately… well, it’s been wet.
But not just wet – all you have to do is turn on your television to try to watch your favorite show, only to be interrupted by all the Watches and Warnings for severe weather. We’ve had tornadoes touch down in this state. We’re starting to see flooding and to have evacuations. Road closures. Fallen trees. Wind damage.
And through it all, the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Volunteer Team is on standby – ready to jump into action with shelters, food service, hydration – whatever is asked of them. Trust me – we’re ready to be asked!
For information about what The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Service Teams are doing in Minnesota to help survivors of tornadoes that touched down there, check out this article.
Be sure to keep checking back for what we’re up to, and how you can help!
