New Thift Store now open at 8310 E. Washington St.

Yes, it is indeed supposed to rain a little bit this weekend and I’m sure you were hoping for nice weather… We all were. However, have I got an idea for you!

Check out our newest addition to our Thrift Store family! We believe in giving useful clothing, furniture, books, dishes, pictures, shoes and many other items a second chance – at a discount to you. Come see what I mean this weekend at 8310 E. Washington St.

We’ll be closed Sunday (to observe the day of rest), but stop on by anytime on Friday or Saturday (or Monday, Tues, Weds, Thurs…) between 9am-8pm for some great deals!

Bloomington Needs Your Vote!!!

A few words, and a plea for a vote, from Peter Iversen at the Bloomington, IN Corps:

“The Salvation Army as a social service agency helps in innumerable ways. Just today two sisters came in, one received food for the household while the other signed up to volunteer in the Thrift Store as part of her Ivy Tech class. As they were leaving they saw information about summer activities for their younger siblings.

Where else would you hear a story like this? Where else would two responsible sisters get such comprehensive care?

Innumerable ways you helped make a difference; that’s part of why you volunteer for The Salvation Army. Whether you sorted in the Thrift Store, distributed at Christmas or ever made a child smile, you made a difference for someone’s life.

Now it’s time to give back again. Voting for The Salvation is as simple as visiting https://bemoreawards.wufoo.com/forms/peoples-choice-award/ daily.

Thank you for supporting the causes of The Salvation Army.”

It takes an email address and less than one minute to vote. The good this money would do for the Bloomington Salvation Army Corps will be well worth your time. That, I can promise.

Thank you.

Ben Cox – Indiana Divisional Individual Volunteer Winner – Fort Wayne

The votes are in!

Here at Divisional Headquarters, we had some tough choices to make when it came to selecting the winners of the Divisional Volunteers of the Year in 4 categories!
You can learn more about what each winner does to help The Salvation Army and their neighbors in need by clicking on “2010 Volunteer of the Year Winners” at the top of the page, or by clicking on this link.
And, even though it was difficult, we most certainly did settle on winners:
Individual Volunteer of the Year - Ben Cox, Fort Wayne Corps
Family Volunteer of the Year – The Stoker Family, Fort Wayne Corps
Corporate Volunteer of the Year – Walmart, Bloomington Corps
Youth Volunteer of the Year – Catherine Johnson, DHQ
Thank you to ALL of The Salvation Army’s amazing volunteers throughout the state. We certainly couldn’t do what we do without every single one of you.

Camp Time!!!

March 17, 2010 by Elizabeth · Leave a Comment

Are you looking for a great experience for your children this summer from an organization you can trust? Look no further!

The Salvation Army runs many different kinds of camps – more information can be found here.

And if you like working with children, have we got a volunteer opportunity for you! Most of the Corps (community centers/churches) around the state of Indiana run some form of Summer Camp. Most are daycamps and most need volunteers to help! If you are interested in being an adult leader for a day camp at a Salvation Army organization near you this summer, all you have to do is call me at (317) 224-1010, or send me an email, and I’ll get you in touch with the right people.

Summer is right around the corner! Well, after we make it through the rainy Spring season… It’s never too early to start planning though.
