Haiti Donation Update…

February 22, 2010 by Elizabeth · Leave a Comment

Dear Indiana… You have been incredibly generous in a time of need!

So far, our Indiana Division has raised over $360,200 for Haiti Relief Efforts. That’s amazing! THANK YOU!

There is still a lot of work that needs to be done in Haiti, and there is still time for you to donate. Every little bit helps. We even make it easy – just click on the “Donate Online” button at the top righthand side of this page and we’ll make sure the money goes where ever you specify in the “Specific Use” field.

Also, we are still not able to accept material donations for Haiti. The problem comes with shipping the items to Haiti… it is possible that, in the future, we will be taking up a collection of material donations, but for now, we’re just not able to effectively get them there.

If you do have items you would like to donate to The Salvation Army in general (and proceeds on items sold in thrift stores goes to our Adult Rehabilitation Center), please call 1-800-SA-TRUCK (1-800-728-87825) and they’ll even come pick it up for you.

Thank you again, Indiana!

March 8 - IUPUI Campus Center

March 8 - IUPUI Campus Center

Are you ready for a good laugh? We are too!

IUPUI is once again hosting Comics That Care – a fundraiser for The Salvation Army’s Homelessness Bites campaign.

Comics That Care will take place on Monday, March 8th at IUPUI’s Campus Center (4th floor – Large Ballroom). Tickets will be $10 ($8 for students!) and can be purchased at the JagTag office in the IUPUI Campus Center, or at the door. The show starts at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm!

Expect funny things… with a line up like this: Troy Davis, Mel Fine, Marques Bunn, Mike Polites, and a Bob and Tom favorite – the headliner of the show – Auggie Smith – how could you pass this up? Not to mention that proceeds from the show will go towards fighting homelessness in Indianapolis.

See you there!

Pluto…

February 18, 2010 by Elizabeth · Leave a Comment

Fun fact of the day:

On February 18, 1930, Pluto was discovered by astronomer Clyde W. Tombaugh. And, of course, in August of 2006 it was decided that Pluto is not a planet.

Planet or no planet - it was 80 years ago today that we found Pluto.
