Yes – it is that time once again to help The Salvation Army by helping the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!
This year, the IMS is letting The Salvation Army be the “Yellow Shirt” people you see at the track – the Safety Patrol! As a volunteer, you would be responsible for keeping an eye on the crowd and making sure that coolers are kept out of the aisle, answering questions from patrons, and doing all that you can to ensure that the patrons have a great time! We’ll be helping out on the “Inside Stands” which means that you’ll also have the opportunity to see everything happening on the track while you’re volunteering!
If you’re interested in helping – here are a few things you should know:
- All volunteers must be 18+
- Volunteers must attend 1 required training course (45 minutes)
- A background check will be required unless you have already had one run by The Salvation Army
We have two trainings coming up, both being at 3100 N. Meridian St.:
- Friday, April 17th, 2009 at 9am
- Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 at 2pm
If you would like to attend either training, all you have to do is let me know! We’ll get all the rest of the information to you.
And if you just have a couple questions, I’d be more than happy to answer those.
Thanks!

April…
“Why are people so tired on April 1st? Because they just finished a 31 day March!”
Happy April! Today begins a brand new month, and some people – in honor of this month – like to partake in April Fools Day. Which just so happens to be today.
You can rest assured, however, that the information following this is not a joke. Unless my sources are trying to trick me… You be the judge:
Spring is officially here and the month of April offers all kinds of opportunities. For instance, April 3rd is “Don’t Go to Work Unless It’s Fun Day” (not recommended if you’d like to keep your job – unless you have some vacation day stored up to take). Suprisingly enough, April 3rd is also “Walk to Work Day.” I don’t know about you, but I live quite a distance from here and walking, wouldn’t be fun.
I’ll let you know about more strange April days as they come up, but for now, just know that April is the month to celebrate Guitars, Humor, Stress Awareness, Welding, and Poetry.
