Celebrity Bellringing!!!

“Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic.” ~Unknown

Never been to Celebrity Bellringing? Today (Friday, November 21st) is your lucky day! From 6am-6pm, The Salvation Army along with local celebrities (including, but not limited to: Quinn Buckner, Colts cheerleaders, WISH TV8 on-air personalities) will be ringing bells to kickoff the kettle season in style! We’ll be down at Monument Circle in front of the Emmis Communication building – just listen for the bells – you can’t miss us!

And think of the things you can learn:

“I learned a new skill – the Colts cheerleaders taught me one of their routines and Crissy is really jealous of my dancing skills,” says Jeff Stanger, Development Director for the Indiana Divisional Headquarters of The Salvation Army.

If you want to see Jeff’s new dancing skills, watch Crissy get jealous of them, or just come and drop a buck or two into the kettle – we’ll be here all day!

“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.” ~Edna Ferber

My roommate played Christmas music this morning while she was getting ready for work. That can only mean one thing:

But it’s so cold!

“A community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm.” ~Henrik Isben

I know you think that to yourself. Every year you see the dedicated volunteers standing out in the freezing cold beside a red Salvation Army kettle, ringing a bell. Every year they smile, say “Thank you,” and continue to ring.

They do it because they believe in The Salvation Army and the good that we’re doing in the community. Because standing in the cold ringing a bell for a couple hours is a small price to pay when the donations collected help people who live outside in the cold.

But you’re right. It is cold. That’s why we’re offering to let you be a bellringer from the comfort of your own home! Oh the power of the internet…

Check out the Indiana Salvation Army Volunteers online red kettle! If you are a volunteer, or if you want to show your support to our volunteers, set-up a kettle of your own or donate to one that’s already been created! Even a donation as small as $5.00 will help to ensure that the programs and the mission of The Salvation Army are able to continue and that those in need will receive all the help we can give.

As an online bellringer, you’ll have the chance to ask all your friends, family and co-workers to support you in your quest to help your local community this holiday season. And you can tell everyone that this year, you’re a bellringer.
