Luck…

”I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.” ~Thomas Jefferson
It’s come to my attention lately that there are quite a few people who don’t give themselves enough credit. Ever have one of those times where you get a bit stressed out about something and then somehow, things just work out? The solution just falls into your lap, so to speak?
Or how about looking back and realizing that where you are now is nowhere that you’ve been trained to be or is a completely different direction than you ever intended to go – but in a good way?
You don’t get hired or promoted because of luck. You don’t try out for something and make it because you’re inadequate. You don’t make friends because they pity you. You get all of these things because you are the best person for the job – because you have the skill set they’re looking for, or the knowledge, expertise and finesse they’re seeking, or because you’re a good person.
Yes, yes, we all have our flaws, but we also have our strengths and sometimes it takes other people to help you remember yours. So next time you find yourself thinking how something just fell into your lap, or that you’re just lucky and it will run out – take a moment to think back and see if there’s truth to that. I’ll bet you’ll find that somewhere along the way, you proved yourself to be worthy.

“Do more than belong: participate. Do more than care: help.” ~William Arthur Ward
Volunteering at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway begins this coming Sunday! Haven’t signed up yet? No problem – just hop on over to “Volunteer” on the left side of this page and get signed up! Yes – there is a bit of training required, but all you’ll need to do is come visit me at my office and pick up a packet of information and an ID badge. Couldn’t be easier!
We’re very in need of volunteers for this coming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Morning shifts generally run from 8am – 1pm and afternoon shifts run from 1pm – 6pm. If you’re available during that time and you’ve wondered what it’s like to volunteer out at the track, let me know!!! I’ll get you trained in no time at all and on your way to help out!
And if you can’t help out during those days – don’t worry – you can sign up for other days too!
All you’ve got to do is let me know you’re interested.

“Those first few songs I wrote, I was taking notes at a fantastic rock concert going on in my head.” ~Jim Morrison
Every summer for the past three years, The Salvation Army has been out at the Verizon Wireless Music Center with volunteers ringing bells during concerts. This year is no different!
Just posted – concerts that The Salvation Army needs volunteer bellringers for through the end of June. July, August, and September concerts will be up when they get closer.
These volunteer spots are highly sought after since they include a free lawn ticket for each volunteer! They’re also highly limited – about 4 spots open for each concert.
The catch is that you have to be signed up as a volunteer to see the schedule and to get to sign up. So, if you’re not currently a volunteer but would like to partake in this opportunity, please sign up now by clicking on “Volunteer” on the left side of the page!
First come, first served… Sign up now!!!!
