The numbers are in! Coats for Kids was a huge success and 3,823 children from Central Indiana will not go cold this winter. Let that number sink in for a moment.

 We had over 8,000 coats and jackets to give to those children, with each child receiving both a winter coat and a lightweight jacket (until we ran out of coats in some sizes – then they received 2 lightweight jackets). But you can read that on our main page.

Preparations complete…

Well, it is Friday evening and the week long set-up for Coats for Kids is finished! It has been a long but very rewarding week down at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Over 8,000 coats have been collected, cleaned, sorted, and hung up in anticipation of the children and families who will be arriving early tomorrow morning.

Volunteers of The Salvation Army – We couldn’t do this without you. Your help during set-up was amazing and more appreciated that I can express in words. I’m so glad I got the chance to meet those of you who came out. I enjoy getting to know you and working alongside you, especially for this important event! Read more

First and foremost – a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who helped out with Apple Fest today! It couldn’t have been as amazing as it was without your help!

I had a request from more than one volunteer today at Apple Fest for a topic on this blog. It seems that I haven’t been keeping up-to-date with my spider adventures… Allow me to fill you in.

Last time I left you, I believe I had lost Creeps and then found him again at the bottom of my desk. He has since moved (again) to the top of my desk, near where I first discovered him. This is partly my fault. Read more
