Hello – and Happy Last Couple Days of August!
My how time has flown this year. Anyway, this is just a quick post to let you know to be on the lookout for the Fall/Christmas 2010 Volunteer Opportunity List coming to you via snail mail. If you find by the end of the week that you don’t have your copy, let me know. It’s always possible that we have an incorrect address for you and we’d like to correct that!

Look for the Volunteer Opportunitites to be posted online this week as well – then feel free to sign up that way, if you’d like!

Student Employment and Experience Fair – IUPUI

: Look for The Salvation Army on IUPUI’s campus on Thursday, August 26th for the Internship Fair!

Look for me on IUPUI’s campus tomorrow – Thursday – at the Student Employment and Experience Fair! That’s right, The Salvation Army is looking for an Intern, and we’re hoping to find one soon!

The Fair will take place from 10:30am – 2:30pm outside of Taylor Hall, in the courtyard. Stop by and say hi! I’ll also have Volunteer opportunities for the Fall/Christmas season.

Golf 4 Giving!!!

: The annual Golf 4 Giving will be held on Wednesday, August 25th.

Wednesday, August 25th marks this year’s annual Golf 4 Giving Open!

Every year, the Women’s Auxiliary organizes and puts on this fundraiser – complete with a silent auction and great food! For more information, you can check out their website at www.golf4giving.org.

Indiana Beach!!!

Today and tomorrow are your last chances for discounted Indiana Beach Tickets!

It’s crazy-hot out still.

Weekends are still free time.

Indiana Beach Tickets are still discounted – but only through tomorrow (Saturday)!

All you have to do to get discounted tickets to Indiana Beach is purchase them no later than Saturday, August 21st. Then, they’re good for the entire rest of the 2010 season.

This summer has been a hot one and with the stress of starting school winding down, catch one last get-away before the cold season arrives!

Did I mention that the tickets are only $19? And that $7 from each ticket sold goes directly to The Salvation Army to support local community programs aiding those in need?

Good With Computers???

: Not all of us are as technically inclined as others… We need your help to create a computer database in Access!

If you know your way around the computer program Access and have a little bit of free time… we sure could use you!

We have a need for an Access-based program to help with our Toy Shop event. It’s important for us to keep track of the estimated value of toy donations during the holidays, and of the kind of toys we have available! Your database will help with that! We’ll have accurate numbers when we send “Thank You’s”, we’ll be able to see what age groups we’re lacking in before the event in order to use donated money to buy toys so we don’t run out, and we’ll be able to track the giving trend.
